8. Sisu: Road to Revenge

Finnish action thriller Sisu was a surprise box office success back in 2023, grossing $14.3 million against a $6.5 million budget, as well as enjoying huge success on streaming.

And so, with sequel Sisu: Road to Revenge releasing late last year, it was fair to assume that the original's ballooning popularity would lead the follow-up to far greater box office success.

But not quite. 

On a heftier price tag of $12.2 million, Sisu: Road to Revenge grossed a disappointing $9.8 million worldwide, no matter the strong reviews with many critics deeming it superior to the first entry.

While this sequel was in no way "necessary," it seems that Sisu's lack of a passionate fandom prevented the sequel from breaking out, and many who enjoyed the original seemingly waited for the follow-up to hit streaming.

This probably closes the door on a potential Sisu 3, then, but considering Road to Revenge felt like a solid enough conclusion to the saga, that's basically fine.
