20 Recent Box Office Flops Everyone Saw Coming
12. Shelter
Now to be completely fair, Jason Statham actually has an impressively robust track record where box office is concerned, and he's one of the few long-tenured action stars not called Tom Cruise who can still draw audiences on name alone.
While on paper The Stath's most recent action thriller Shelter should've been another easy win, it had one big problem working against it from the jump - it was being distributed by Black Bear Pictures.
Black Bear has racked up quite the pile of flop releases in recent years, so it was easy to predict that Shelter, even with the might of Statham fronting it, would be yet another commercial dud.
And indeed, Shelter went on to gross just $53.9 million against its $50 million budget, falling far short of the grosses of his two previous films, A Working Man ($89 million) and The Beekeeper ($162.6 million).
As a slight consolation prize, though, Shelter did perform well on streaming - a common outcome for Dad Movies such as this.
