20. Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu

While there's no denying that Star Wars is one of the most iconic IP in cinema history, it's been going through something of a rough patch since the series' last feature film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, landed with a thud of indifference from many fans.

And though The Mandalorian TV series was a smash hit on Disney+, it was always going to be a struggle to convince all but the most die-hard fans to leave their house for a big-screen continuation.

It didn't help of course that the marketing for The Mandalorian & Grogu failed to distinguish it from the Disney+ show in any meaningful way - absolutely nothing we saw in the trailers made it look bigger or more lavish than a feature-length episode of the original series, and so why would casuals not just wait for the streaming release?

And that's precisely what most of them did, as the film is set to top out at around $350 million worldwide, making it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film of all time, falling well below the $393 million haul of Solo: A Star Wars Story.
