2. Zendaya Is A Stalker - The Drama

The Rumour:

The marketing for Kristoffer Borgli's new black comedy The Drama quite brilliantly hinged itself around a central mystery - what is the big, shocking secret which Emma (Zendaya) has hidden from her husband-to-be, Charlie (Robert Pattinson)?

A few months before the film's release, a Reddit theory spread like wildfire which suggested that The Drama was based on an infamous 2023 Reddit post in which user Hot_Relation899 revealed that they spent two years obsessively stalking their future husband before meeting him, engineering "coincidences" to bring them together.

The Truth:

This was certainly a fun idea that'd probably make for a pretty compelling story in its own right, but Borgli's film ultimately went in a far, far darker direction.

We actually find out that, as a depressed teenager, Emma planned to carry out a mass shooting at her high school, ultimately backing out after seeing the impact that a previous shooting had on her community.

Unlike most of the entries on this list, this is one instance where what we got was actually considerably more demented than the rumour.
