18. Eneru - One Piece

Amid the egomaniacs and those struggling with real self-importance issues on this list comes an actual god in One Piece’s Eneru.

Of all the Devil Fruit powers Luffy and his crew have encountered, Eneru is the one who had this writer most convinced his abilities were actually genuine and thus that much more daunting to think about.

It turns out the self-appointed ruler of Skypiea was something of a fraud after all, but Eneru did a fine job in convincing he was indeed a god for a while there. Devastating lightning powers, teleportation, near omnipotence and the ability to know all that’s happening on his island—sounds godly to me.

This parachute pants-wearing fiend was an intriguing villain in that his own ego meant he was rarely ruffled and rather monotone, making is that much better when we see him realise his own mortality.

For a time, though, Eneru is very much the all-powerful devil behind the curtain, and his devout belief in his own godly crusade makes him an engaging figure to rally against.
