The Space Between Us is based on one simple, irresistible question: would a human born anywhere but Earth survive a "homecoming" to his species planet? Starring Asa Butterfield and Britt Robertson, the super-modern take on Romeo & Juliet - with literal star-crossed lovers - the film also features Gary Oldman in a so far unspecified role. There's an element of You've Got Mail in there too, as the couple meet online and Tulsa (Robertson) has no idea that Butterfield's Gardner was born on Mars after his mother turns out to be pregnant on a mission (a genuine concern for NASA according to producer Richard Lewis).
