2016's cult fave horror film Terrifier got an improbable sequel, with breakout antagonist Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) being resurrected for another round of murder.

But Terrifier 2 is no quick cash-in sequel to an unexpectedly successful new horror film - director Damien Leone has mounted it is an uncommonly epic follow-up touting a beefy 138-minute runtime, almost a whole hour longer than the original.

And though that expanded length might invite some healthy skepticism - after all, how many truly good horror movies run over two hours? - early festival reviews have largely praised it as a bigger, better sequel.

Terrifier releases on digital platforms on October 24.
