5 Comic Books That Would Be More Successful On TV Than Film
1. The Punisher Three different actors have already portrayed Frank Castle and have failed to attract a large audience. The best adaptation of the character was not a major Hollywood picture, but a short film starring the second actor to play the character, Thomas Jane. Director Phil Joanou made an effective Punisher film in 10 minutes where others failed with several hours. He made a low budget, gritty, and violent world for Frank Castle to do what he does best. The Punisher is a fan favorite, but he will never mainstream success unless a series is made. The series should be based on PunisherMAX stories written by Garth Ennis. His series contains more realistic and hard-edged stores involving The Punisher. The recent film, Punisher: War Zone, tried to take aspects from the Ennis series. It succeeded in many ways, but it wasnt received well by critics and didnt make much at the box office. A series devoted to Frank Castle and his quest to bring down the injustices in the world is just what TV needs right now. With shows like Braking Bad, and Dexter on there (possible) last seasons, a Punisher series could be the next great series.
