5 Reasons Why X Men: The Last Stand is Better Than X-Men: First Class

2. The Casting

Probably my favorite character in recent X Men comics is Emma Frost. Hmmm€ maybe now you can see why I wasn€™t a big fan of First Class. Whoever thought January Jones would make a good Emma Frost should be fired, right now! She wasn€™t the Emma Frost I was hoping for€ I even prefer the Emma Frost in the Wolverine film to be honest. I can practically see the casting process for January Jones right now. I bet it went a little something like this€ €œWho€™s that blonde chick in Mad Men who is just about passable as an actress?€ €œJanuary Jones€ €œMad Men is set in the 60€™s right?€ €œUh huh!€ €œFirst Class is set in the 60€™s too. You think she€™ll wanna do a movie?€ €œWould she even turn down a role?€ You get what I€™m saying. It was lazy casting, and Emma Frost deserves better€ A LOT better. Couldn€™t they cast a bigger, more talented actress, Charlize Theron, Cate Blanchett or how about Sarah Michelle Geller€ she€™s not doing anything lately and has major geek cred (plus she can pull off threatening a lot more convincingly than Jones). Either recast her, or keep her out of the sequel all together. Also, why oh why is that boy from Skins and About a Boy Beast? Wasn€™t Beast supposed to be super beefy? And Lucas Till, otherwise known as that boy in the Hannah Montana Movie as Havok€ really? I could go on and on. And although I know how much everyone just loves the Fassbender, and I€™ll even admit that he is mostly a very good actor, what accent was he trying to mimic though the entire film? English, Irish€ make up your mind!!! But The Last Stand cast Kelsey Grammer (Sideshow Bob, Frasier Crane) as Beast- best casting ever, and the at that point not very well known Ellen Page (pre-Juno) as Kitty Pryde. Pretty good decisions no?
