In one of the most surprising "reboot-quel" projects of recent years, Chris Rock seeks to rejuvenate the Saw franchise with a radical ninth entry into the hit horror series.

Rock stars alongside Max Minghella and Samuel L. Jackson, while Saw filmmaker Darren Lynn Bousman directs, in what certainly looks like the most visually arresting and David Fincher-esque of all the Saw movies to date.

It remains to be seen how deeply the film will connect to its eight predecessors, and of course there's an obligatory plot twist or two to look out for, but from what we've seen so far, this may be an enticing new direction for the flagging franchise.
