With Vince Vaughan no longer reprising his role as the obnoxious Wes Mantooth, there was a douchebag-shaped void in The Legend Continues which needed to be filled. There needed to be some ice to create tension with Burgundys flaming golden hawk. Step forward James Marsden, to play the part of rival anchorman and sworn nemesis of Ron Burgundy. Marsden is a criminally underrated actor who has shown great versatility throughout his career, starring in Hairspray, The Notebook, and most famously X-Men. He demonstrated his comic capabilities in Sex Drive and in the successful last series of American show 30 Rock, and I can see him fitting in nicely with the Anchorman surroundings.
