Written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Robert Rodriguez, From Dusk Till Dawn is one of the most unique film experiences, partly because of just how insane it is, but mostly because of the completely abrupt change in tone halfway through the picture. Seth and Richie Gecko, two violent criminals on the run, kidnap a former pastor and his kids as they make their way to Mexico. Stopping by a strip club aptly named The Titty Twister, they find out that the club is actually a trap set up by an ancient vampire clan as a means of feasting on the blood of bikers and truckers. From Dusk Till Dawn gives no hint to the viewers about what its really about, making the appearance of the vampires halfway through a genuine surprise to anyone who catches it on television. When the vampires do show up, all hell breaks loose, and the club turns into a blood bath. Unlike the sophisticated and elegant vampires of the night, these vampires are portrayed as ravenous monstrosities, with horrifyingly ugly faces that would keep many children up at night. Adults, however, are able to enjoy a blood-filled tongue and cheek ride with punchy dialogue, clever special effects, and passionate filmmaking. Just dont let the kids see.
