9 Biggest Star Wars 7 Rumours Right Now

7. Tatooine! Hoth! Endor!

Along with all the familiar faces we'll see returning in Star Wars Episode VII, we'll also be popping back in to check up on some of the locations from the original trilogy. The majority of filming has been done at Pinewood Studios in the UK, which is where a lot of the first three films were shot. That'll be all the interiors, spaceships and the like (new rumour: Star Wars Episode VII will feature spaceships!), but it's when you take a look at the exteriors that some more plot points started to come into place. Abrams and crew have been doing location work in Abu Dhabi, Iceland and three days at Skellig Michael Island off the coast of County Kerry in Ireland. So what does all of that mean? Well, the Abu Dhabi set is almost certainly going to be the sort of desert locale necessary for recreating Tatooine. In the previous Star Wars films the home planet of the Skywalkers was actually southern Tunisia, and took its name from a city not far from the shoot - Tataouine. Which we're pretty sure didn't have twin suns. There are actually still remnants of the 1977 sets in the country, but Abrams and co chose to shoot in Abu Dhabi this time. Looks like they've done a good job of recreating how it looked back in the day, though.Iceland, meanwhile, is pretty much the exact opposite of the arid, desert environment that doubles for Tatooine. Hey, you know a Star Wars setting that's characterised by being really cold, icy and covered in snow? Hoth! The assumption is that the film will return to the ice planet from the start of The Empire Strikes Back. Similarly, some time spent filming in The Forest of Dean has people speculating that we'll be checking out either the Ewok planet of Endor or Yoda's previous home Dagobah at some point, too.
