5. Red State 2

Even the most lapsed Kevin Smith fan knows that the filmmaker just can't stop talking about movies he wants to make but ultimately never gets around to actually making.

And back in 2022, Smith proclaimed that he was hard at work on a follow-up to his 2011 horror-thriller Red State, which starred the late, great Michael Parks as the leader of an extremist religious cult.

According to Smith, Lionsgate was keen to get Red State 2 made, which in turn lit a fire under him to start working on it.

But Smith hasn't said anything about the sequel in the four years since, and with this being just one of the many films he wants to make, it seems overwhelmingly improbable it actually happens.

With 15 years having passed since the original and Michael Parks sadly no longer being with us, perhaps Red State is best left a curious one-off amid Smith's filmography.
