8. Tony Stark's B.A.R.F. Technology Allows Time Travel
The Rumour
Perhaps the most convincing rumour to do the rounds over the last year suggested that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) would make use of the B.A.R.F. memory-shaping tech from Captain America: Civil War, somehow manipulating it to facilitate time travel.
This rumour came about after January 2018 set leaks showed an orange box labelled "Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing" while the crew were shooting the new Battle of New York scenes.
The Truth
Once again, those pesky Russos played fans for a fiddle, and B.A.R.F. technology doesn't appear in the film in any way, shape or form.
Rather, the mechanics of time travel are kept fairly vague for the sake of narrative momentum, beyond "because Tony Stark is a genius", which was probably the most sensible route to go.
