Infinity War's post-credits scene sees Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) riding through the streets just as Thanos wipes out half the universe.
As chaos ensues, Hill disintegrates before Fury's eyes, at which point Fury desperately reaches for a transponder, just barely activating a distress call to Captain Marvel before turning to dust himself.
As he realises what's happening to him, though, Fury's able to let out the PG-13 half of his legendary quip, "Motherf---", before his vocal chords are turned to ash along with the rest of him.
Giving audiences a humourous moment just minutes after Thanos killed a bunch of beloved superheroes is quite a gamble, but it paid off with one of the film's biggest and most unexpected gut-laughs.
