6. The Favourite & Roma Split The Big Awards

BAFTA & BBC

Thankfully when it came to the most prestigious awards of the night, BAFTA voters avoided repeating the embarrassment of the Golden Globes - where Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody split the top honours - by dividing the most coveted gold between The Favourite and Roma.

The Favourite scooped Outstanding British Film and Best Original Screenplay, while Roma won Best Foreign Film, Best Film and Best Director.

The Favourite ended up winning a total of seven awards outright, while Roma landed four, making them by far the biggest winners of the night (while Bohemian Rhapsody trailed in third place with two wins).

If nothing else, Roma's continued success provides a little hope that Oscar voters won't be swayed by the more mainstream-skewing aforementioned Golden Globe winners when it comes to Best Picture.
