Batman To Feature in Justice League Movie Before The Dark Knight Reboot

The Caped Crusader's next big screen outing will be with his JLA friends and NOT in a solo movie.

The comic book fan community is alive with chatter today thanks to a new rumour that has surfaced suggesting that Batman€™s next big screen appearance will be in the upcoming Justice League movie and not The Dark Knight reboot, before that same version of the character could potentially spin-off into a reboot. Originating on Batman-on-Film, it€™s suggested here that the Justice League movie will be the next DC property to get big-screen exposure, after next summer€™s Man of Steel... something which we pretty much knew already when WB first offered Ben Affleck the chance to direct the movie for a projected 2015 release a few weeks back. What lends credence to the report is that the DC Super-Ensemble piece already has a completed screenplay from Gangster Squad writer Will Beall, and Warner Bros. could potentially look to attach a summer 2015 release, if they can find a suitable director in time (latest talk over the weekend was that The Wachowski's were being eyed). As for Batman, some fans cry out for Nolan's continuity to be maintained while others are adamant that we need another fresh take. It€™s important to remember that, although it would be nice, there are currently no concrete plans to connect a Justice League movie with a larger continuity, a €˜la Marvel€™s method with the Avengers. We can€™t be certain at this point that the Justice League film will share a Universe with any of the other DC properties, past, present or future. When Warner Bros. were moving forward with George Miller€™s now long since abandoned motion-capture take on Batman a few years ago, it was to feature a completely different tone, a completely different Batman. Although both Justice League and Nolan's The Dark Knight were to be released around the same time, both would have been independent of one another. Of course, on the flip side of the coin, a Justice League Movie could of course end up as the first take on a new Batman, a way to introduce a radically different take on the character that could spin-off into a brand new series, separate to Nolan's completed trilogy.
