One actor who is used to darkness however, Michael C. Hall is perhaps best known for his work as serial-killing Dexter. Dexter is a hero with a troubled past, taking the law into his own hands, but always adhering to a moral code: Hall plays the double-life with exquisite balance, and though he's not the most glamourous actor on this list, he's certainly one who's due a big break, rather like Cavill was in Man of Steel. He's finished Dexter for good now it would seem, and what better role to leap into? Though he's largely inexperienced in Hollywood, that could work in his favour; if Affleck does pull out, Warner Bros. will likely want to avoid such a backlash again. Going for someone not quite so well known might be a shrewd move, and Hall would definitely be a good option.
