20 Greatest Horror Movie Opening Scenes of the 2020s (So Far)

15. Together

Body horror film Together is another movie that does an excellent job of establishing its premise in its first few minutes, even while leaving the particulars mysterious enough to sustain intrigue.

We open on a man returning home after searching for a missing couple with his two dogs, but later that night, he's woken up by the dogs barking.

When he heads out to check on them in their kennel, he finds them grotesquely fused together, which we see just a brief glimpse of before the film smash-cuts to its title.

The scene succinctly and eerily confirms that there's something seriously wrong with the water in the underground cave near Tim (Dave Franco) and Millie's (Alison Brie) house - which the dogs are shown drinking out of - and only leaves the audience more anxious to see how things are going to pan out for Tim and Millie throughout the rest of the movie.
