20 Best Movies Of 2026 (So Far)

6. Twinless

Many films released this year so far have worked in large part due to the strength of their performances, none more so than James Sweeney's cerebral tale of grief and friendship, Twinless.

Starring a career-best Dylan O'Brien as a twin grieving his late brother and Sweeney as the man who had a relationship with him, Twinless is best going into as blind as possible, its dark twists, romantic asides, and searing portrayal of the grieving process a unique experience best seen without spoilers.

What can be said about it, though, is how committed O'Brien is in the main role, portraying a worn-down, troubled soul whose trauma is palpable thanks to Sweeney's confrontational script and patient storytelling. An Oscar contender he should most definitely be.

Bleak and funny, romantic and dark, Twinless is a delightful black comedy, a psychological thriller, and a sad ode to mourning that earns every twist it deploys.
