5. Sleep Tight

It's at least easy to understand why some bounce off of [REC] director Jaume Balagueró's psychological horror film Sleep Tight, because without giving too much away, it's definitely one for the sickos - and the sickos only.

The ever-brilliant Luis Tosar stars as César, the concierge of an apartment building who spends his nights terrorising the building's residents, with increasingly queasy results once he sets his sights on a beautiful resident by the name of Clara (Marta Etura).

Effectively an examination of incel culture years before anyone ever knew that word, Sleep Tight is a deliciously effed-up slice of Hitchcock-esque suspense - if Hitch didn't have to deal with the Hays Code, of course.

Tosar and co-star Marta Etura are fantastic in the central roles, and it's a credit to Balagueró that he manages to keep the tone on an even keel despite fusing black comedy with such an inherently disgusting premise.
