20 Great Performances Wasted In Terrible Horror Movies

3. Charles Dance - Dracula Untold

Never one to phone it in, Charles Dance brings a natural authority and gravitas to just about any role he plays, and that was certainly true of his Master Vampire in 2014's Dracula Untold.

Dracula Untold was intended to be the start of Universal's ill-fated Dark Universe - a cinematic franchise encompassing the Tom Cruise-starring The Mummy and also a number of other planned but ultimately cancelled monster movies.

Sadly despite the solid casting of Luke Evans as Dracula, this is a largely boilerplate action-horror film packed with by-the-numbers action sequences and a coma-inducingly dull plot.

But at least we have Charles Dance chewing through every single line of dialogue with his usual velvet-tongued vigour.

He's clearly having a ton of fun despite largely being relegated to the role of exposition keeper, and so it's a damn shame we didn't to get to see more of him in the planned wider universe.
