19. Twerking Jump Scare - Evil Dead Burn

It's with a profound sense of irony that the most bonkers moment from the new Evil Dead movie has nothing to do with nauseating gore but one of the most hilariously unhinged scene transitions in recent film history.

The intense opening scene climaxes with a Deadite-possessed Jessica (Greta Van Den Brink) stepping out into a dark road just as a car drives into her, at which point director Sébastien Vaniček abruptly cuts to a close-up shot of a woman's posterior twerking in a nightclub, where we're introduced to the central characters.

For all the complaints that Evil Dead Burn was too mean and not funny enough - a gripe stated even by Bruce Campbell himself - it has one of the most amusing and unexpected jump cuts from any movie this decade.

Though not a great movie overall and surely the weakest of all the Evil Dead films, it is at least clearly made with a dark - that is, very dark - sense of humour.
