9. Madelaine Petsch's Performance - The Strangers - Chapter 3

It surprised not a single, solitary soul that the concluding chapter of Renny Harlin's woeful Strangers reboot trilogy was another clunky mess that only further sullied the franchise's name.

But as with the first two films, there was one single bright spot - a genuinely strong performance from lead actress Madelaine Petsch as protagonist Maya.

Despite the absolutely leaden scripts she was handed across the trilogy, Petsch consistently showed up and did her absolute damnedest to elevate it, with Chapter 3 paying off Maya's transformation from victim to survivor to vengeful Final Girl.

There's only so much that even the best actor can do with material this dreadful, but she carries the films hard, and without such a committed central performance they honestly might've been nigh-on unwatchable.

Fingers crossed her considerable acting chops might be put to better use in a more worthy horror film sometime soon.
