6. Gremlins 3

Even though Gremlins 2: The New Batch was a big ol' box office flop in 1990 - despite being one of the greatest sequels of all time - it's genuinely surprising that Warner Bros. has taken almost four full decades to get a third movie going.

After more than a decade of development, Gremlins 3 is imminently set to start shooting, with original writer Chris Columbus tapped to both write and direct, with the script also being co-written by Final Destination Bloodlines filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.

We don't know a whole lot about the threequel yet, though original star Zach Galligan is expected to reprise his role in some form, and Columbus has assured fans that the gremlins will be realised through practical puppetry rather than CGI - a genuine concern with modern Hollywood being what it is.

Though Gremlins fans are fiercely protective of the franchise, it at least seems like Columbus and co. are putting their best feet forward with this belated follow-up.
