Black Adam: 20 WTF Moments

The DCEU somehow just got even weirder.

Black Adam is now finally out in cinemas around the world, and it's fair to say that the response has proven relatively divisive, with general audiences scoring it far more favourably than critics, who have dubbed it an excessively generic superhero flick.

And indeed, it is an odd, at times awkward film that offers up its fair share of bizarre, left-field moments both for better and worse.

Black Adam may be disappointingly formulaic, but that doesn't mean it's not also without its unexpectedly eccentric moments that are by turns hilarious and just totally baffling. Whether that's entertaining or simply irritating will surely vary wild among viewers.

Indeed, Black Adam has WTF moments for days, from surprise cameos to shockingly violent moments for a PG-13 movie, insane pop-culture references and yes, that mid-credits scene that everybody's already busy talking about.

Whether you want to re-live the movie's strangest scenes or just read the CliffsNotes without actually watching the film itself, we've got you covered with this list of the movie's 20 most WTF moments.

Obviously MAJOR SPOILERS will follow for Black Adam if you haven't seen it yet...

20. Shazam & Amanda Waller's Cameos

Black Adam features a surprising number of cameos from established DCEU characters, with the movie wasting no time at all throwing familiar faces at the audience.

For starters, an opening flashback shows how Adam (Dwayne Johnson) - or who we believe to be Adam, anyway - got his powers from the Council of Wizards, ensuring we get a few brief scenes with the wizard Shazam (Djimon Hounsou).

Elsewhere Viola Davis also reprises her role as Amanda Waller, seemingly still heading up Task Force X and acting as a laison with the Justice Society.

She shows up for a couple of short-but-pivotal scenes throughout the film, confirming she's still a major fixture in the DCEU, all while her own spin-off series continues to be developed.

Given that Black Adam could've very easily been a largely standalone offering within the DCEU, it was a pleasant surprise to see this connective tissue by way of familiar characters. And they're certainly not the only ones who appear during the movie - but more on that later.
