20. Shazam & Amanda Waller's Cameos

Black Adam features a surprising number of cameos from established DCEU characters, with the movie wasting no time at all throwing familiar faces at the audience.

For starters, an opening flashback shows how Adam (Dwayne Johnson) - or who we believe to be Adam, anyway - got his powers from the Council of Wizards, ensuring we get a few brief scenes with the wizard Shazam (Djimon Hounsou).

Elsewhere Viola Davis also reprises her role as Amanda Waller, seemingly still heading up Task Force X and acting as a laison with the Justice Society.

She shows up for a couple of short-but-pivotal scenes throughout the film, confirming she's still a major fixture in the DCEU, all while her own spin-off series continues to be developed.

Given that Black Adam could've very easily been a largely standalone offering within the DCEU, it was a pleasant surprise to see this connective tissue by way of familiar characters. And they're certainly not the only ones who appear during the movie - but more on that later.
