What We Know So Far
In the comics, Killmonger, originally known as N'Jadaka, was exiled from Wakanda when his father was forced to help Ulysses Klaw attack the country. On his return to his homeland, he attempted to overthrow T'Challa, which looks exactly like the shape of his story in the movie too.
And it looks like Killmonger and Klaue will be working together, which explains the break-out scene teased in the trailer. According to EW, Killmonger breaks him out and the two will work together against T'Challa and his Wakandan council, as well as to get their hands on more Vibranium to increase their powers.
Killmonger looks like a legitimate power rival, who officially challenges T'Challa to trial by combat, and who doesn't take defeat kindly.
