Captain America: Civil War - 13 Major Plot Clues From The First Trailer

By James Hunt /

8. Captain America Will Be Arrested (And Martin Freeman's Behind It)

Not long after Cap incredulously says "Or what, you'll arrest me?" while on the phone with Natasha Romanoff, exactly that happens. Surrounded by police, he and Falcon are taken in by the officials, with Cap even forced to hand over his shield. This happens at the same time as Tony Stark's voice states "if we can't accept limitations, we're no better than the bad guys." This once more backs up the fact that Cap is going to reject working with/for the government, and instead do his own thing, but it's a surprise to learn that he will actually be placed under arrest for it, and means he'll also have to be released or - more likely - break free as well. What's particularly noteworthy at this point is our first look at Martin Freeman's character, barely noticeable in the shot above. While he's remained coy on his character's role, only saying that he's a government official, it does appear as though he'll be working in favour of the Accords, and thus against Captain America. Of course, just when you think you've got it all figured out is the fact that also in this scene is Emily VanCamp's Agent 13, who is supposed to be on Cap's side. So either she's changed allegiance (unlikely), is a double-agent (likely), or Freeman's character isn't what he seems (maybe and hopefully?).
