11. Carol's Powers Come From The Quantum Realm
The Rumour: One of the movie's biggest mysteries was the precise origin of Carol's powers.
Though it could've easily just been some random Kree nonsense ass-pulled out of nowhere, some fans were convinced that Captain Marvel would (somehow) earn her abilities from the quantum realm.
The Truth: Despite Kevin Feige stating that the quantum realm is of enormous relevance to Captain Marvel as a character, it had zero involvement in the character's origins nor any part to play in this story.
Rather, it's revealed late in the film that Carol obtained her powers after a Tesseract-powered energy core exploded (after she shot it to escape from Yon-Rogg, of course).
Few were likely expecting the Tesseract to show up in the movie, so this was a fun little surprise.
