4. Captain Roy Mustang - James McAvoy

Other than the Elric Brothers, Roy Mustang is probably the show's biggest protagonist. However, while the Elric's are usually causing mayhem somewhere, Mustang is navigating the political landscape in an attempt to bring Fuhrer Bradley and his government down. It's a pretty meaty role for any actor who would decide to take it on.

The Flame Alchemist either has a relationship or a bone to pick with nearly every person on the show, so he's really the person connecting everyone together. The film will need an actor of some gravitas to be able to play him and we think that James McAvoy would do a stellar job.

The Scottish actor has been in his fair share of comic book and fantasy roles, but the character of Roy Mustang would give him an opportunity to mix those elements alongside some of his darker performances. While Mustang isn't quite Kevin Crumb, he's definitely got a dark side to him that is mostly seen when he's trying to take out the homunculi.
