10. The Resurrection of the Christ

Mel Gibson has spent the better part of the last 20-plus years trying to get a sequel made to his enormously successful biblical epic The Passion of the Christ, which would focus on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Gibson began developing the sequel, The Resurrection of the Christ, in earnest around a decade ago, but between the slow progress and Gibson's own soured reputation in Hollywood, many doubted that he'd ever actually get it made.

Even when Gibson was openly location scouting, it wasn't easy to believe that the film would be imminently going into production - let alone Gibson's claim that it would actually be a two-part project with a total budget of $200 million.

But at the end of April, Gibson wrapped a seven-month shoot for both films, confirming beyond any doubt that these now-mythic sequels are indeed happening.

Lionsgate currently has Part One scheduled to drop on March 26, 2027, and Part Two six weeks later on May 6.
