20 Most Divisive Movie Scenes Ever

11. The Gun Dream - Weapons

Zach Cregger's Oscar-winning Weapons is one of the most acclaimed horror films of the last decade, but there's one scene above all others that got people arguing - that incredibly bizarre gun dream sequence.

Archer (Josh Brolin) has a dream where his vanished missing son Matthew (Luke Speakman) runs away from him and into a house, and as Archer observes the outside of the house, a massive assault rifle appears above the property with "2:17" written on it - the very time all seventeen missing children left their houses and disappeared.

Some found it rather on-the-nose compared to the rest of the movie, foreshadowing the kids' use as actual weapons later on or, as some have suggested, nodding towards the epidemic of school shootings in the U.S.

But there are just as many folk who find this deeply strange visual enticingly bizarre - a floating CGI rifle is the last thing anyone expected to see, and so it quite perfectly captures the slippery non-logic of dreams.
