20 Movies Critics HATE But Audiences LOVE

12. Super Troopers

All art is subjective, but no genre proves more relative to taste than comedy, as evidenced by the many, many, many critically panned comedies that were massively embraced by audiences.

And there are few better examples of this than Super Troopers, because while Broken Lizard's 2001 stoner comedy hit a mediocre 37% with critics, it's an absolute darling with its dazed-and-confused target audience, who have it at an incredible 90% approval.

This wasn't the first offbeat cult comedy that critics just didn't "get," and it surely won't be the last.

If you can get on its wild, goofy wavelength, there are grand laughs to be had, but if you simply don't have a fondness for stoner humour, it's probably a lot less charming.

2018's sequel meanwhile didn't fare nearly as well with audiences, who gave it a more lukewarm 64% approval compared to critics' middling 35%.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how things shake out with the impending third film, due out in August.
