20 Movies Critics HATE But Audiences LOVE

13. Red Notice

If Red Notice had been released just a few years later, many critics would've surely criticised it for "giving AI slop," given that there's not a single particularly creative idea in this utterly pedestrian, massively expensive globe-trotting spy caper.

It scraped a mere 37% approval with critics, then, but more than doubled that score with general punters, given that it landed an astonishing 92% audience approval.

What can you even say about this? Red Notice has an attractive trio of actors kicking ass across the globe and dropping corny one-liners - that's enough for a Netflix Original to pass the basic sniff test with undemanding viewers watching at home.

You can also argue that watching such a huge, star-studded movie day-and-date on Netflix still felt like a bit of a novelty back in 2021, and so viewers were compelled to go a little easy on it.

It's perfectly inoffensive fluff to watch while doing the dishes or folding your laundry, and sometimes that's all people want.
