D23: 10 MCU Announcements That Will Break The Internet
Finally an Incredible Hulk sequel?
By the incredibly high standards the franchise has set for itself, the MCU has found itself in something of a rough patch since the end of the Infinity Saga. Phase Four has so far produced six movies, only two of which can be considered consensus hits with fans, and a very inconsistent eight series on Disney+.
However, even in the middle of such a spell, Marvel Studios know how to get fans excited about the future. Just look at how Kevin Feige owned the stage in San Diego Comic Con’s hallowed Hall H, and the reaction the world had to the ridiculous announcements made.
Though this only came a matter of weeks ago, Feige will take centre-stage again this weekend for the D23 Expo. This is yet another chance to drop the kind of bombshells that will break the internet, and there are some huge announcements he could make that will do just that.
While the D23 presentation is not likely to live up to the same excitement as Comic Con, there are still some details and announcements that fans are already foaming at the mouths to hear.
10. The Cast & Director Of Fantastic Four
First up is something fans have been thinking about for years and years, even before the Fantastic Four came back under the Marvel umbrella. Fans know that Marvel’s First Family will be returning to the big screen in 2024, but don’t yet know who will bring them to life.
Of course, arguably one of the most popular fancastings in history came true when John Krasinski portrayed Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, this was Earth-838’s Reed Richards, which does not guarantee Krasinski will return to be the Earth-616 version.
Regardless of who it is, the announcement of Reed’s casting will be huge news, but just imagine the reaction if it should be confirmation of Krasinski's return. Add in Sue Storm, in a perfect world played by Emily Blunt, the Human Torch and the Thing, and this would be big.
Then there is who will bring the movie to life behind the camera. Recent weeks have suggested that WandaVision’s Matt Shakman will be directing the Fantastic Four’s first MCU movie, though nothing is certain until the Godfather of the franchise himself says so.
