Batman and Superman have received a number of live-action films over the years, but they're just two-thirds of DC's Holy Trinity of characters that everyone the world over knows. The third - Wonder Woman, of course - only just made her long-awaited (and long overdue) big screen debut in this year's Batman v Superman.

Similar to the initial Internet uproar about Affleck's casting, Gadot, too, received more than her fair share of criticism leading up to that film's release, and the fact she came out of it as one of its highlights has helped make the impending arrival of her own solo outing all the more anticipated. The footage so far has been welcomed with open arms even if many are still hesitant to get their hopes too high after the divisiveness of BvS and Suicide Squad, and the World War I setting already looks set to give a refreshing new spin to the superhero genre.

Gadot will be joined by a cast that includes Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Lucy Davis, David Thewlis, and Danny Huston, and though the bigger story details have yet to be unleashed - like exactly who the villain(s) of the film will be, for instance - the seeming determination to do right by the character by everyone involved, such as director Patty Jenkins, makes it easy to keep our fingers crossed that they get it right, not just for the fans but to give Wonder Woman herself a movie the excellent, badass warrior deserves.
