After he took some heat for his part in Justice League (a poisoned chalice to end them all), Joss Whedon stepped away from writing the Batgirl solo outing in February, telling The Hollywood Reporter "it took me months to realize I really didn't have a story."

He's now been replaced by Christina Hodson, the writer of Bumblebee. A director is yet to be hired.

Will It Happen?

It's looking pretty likely. Warner Bros need their female-centric movies to work and Wonder Woman's success offers a strong map (and a slice of the market for them to own with Marvel lagging), so they're likely to pursue this one. Don't expect it in 2019 though.
