12. Splash

Splash is probably the most controversial edit featured on this list and subject to much online debate. Disney has decided Daryl Hannah’s bum is too much for kids.

Some scenes have seen the offending buttocks blurred or cropped out but the most devisive change comes in a scene that sees the film’s heroine running down the beach away from a love struck Tom Hanks. Where once there was a derrière there is now an extra foot or so of blonde hair. You can see why they’d take this approach. After all, long hair was the original cover for Hannah spending much of the 1984 Movie with her top off.

Some parent’s groups have supported the changes while others online have railed against the edits. Whether or not the scene should have been altered, pretty much everyone agrees the new CGI is a botch job. Darryl’s new look has drawn unfavourable comparisons to the CGI fur in Tom Hooper’s recent big screen bust Cats.

No one wants to be caught on camera wearing dodgy hair extensions. Poor Darryl Hannah has had these ones added on years after the fact and, literally, behind her back.
