2023 was yet another rather interesting and important year when it comes to new on-screen additions to the ever-growing Star Wars franchise.

Along with the long-awaited first season of Ahsoka (a.k.a. Star Wars Rebels season five), the second dose of Bad Batch animated adventures, another bold and unexpected season of Visions, and the latest - though somewhat hit-and-miss - chapter of The Mandalorian tale all arrived on Disney+.

But a quick look at what is on the horizon for Lucasfilm over the next year and beyond suggests that the best could still be yet to come in this Disney era of Star Wars stories.

2024 alone will see a number of somewhat intriguing new series debuting on that aforementioned streaming service, as well as yet another chunk of no doubt wonderful animated Jedi tales, to go along with the already-released third season of The Bad Batch.

And beyond this year, a few critically acclaimed shows' follow-up seasons, and a whole host of fascinating big-screen Star Wars projects are also currently in the works.

So, now feels like as good a time as any to look at each and every one of those incoming slices of Star Wars that are very much in various stages of production - sadly then, this means Rian Johnson's much-talked-about next Star Wars film won't be discussed as it still doesn't appear that The Last Jedi's director is "actively involved" in a new idea as of last year (as per Variety).

But have no fear, there's still a lot of other Star Wars offerings coming to a screen near you in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future.

14. The Mandalorian Season 4

Before the third season of The Mandalorian glided onto Disney+ (and occasionally hit some Jack Black and Lizzo-shaped turbulence), showrunner Jon Favreau announced that he'd actually already finished writing the show's fourth season.

So, it felt safe to assume that yet another chunk of Din Djarin and Grogu quests were going to drop on the streaming service not too long after the divisive season three.

However, the announcement of another intriguing project set to arrive in movie theatres at some point in the future (we'll get there, don't worry) has now made it a little unclear whether this next season will even become a thing.

In the wake of the recent Hollywood strikes, it appears Lucasfilm has decided this fourth season isn't as much of a priority as it once was. And it being made at all is now "definitely not a given" according to The Hollywood Reporter, with much of the focus now reportedly being on its recently announced movie spin-off.
