A horror flick all about grief and trauma that, honestly, feels about as convincing as the stuffy performances guiding it forward, this is one King adaptation that could have benefitted from going all-out on the otherwise effective thrills. Instead, it tries to turn itself into something more, but its message hits you over the head and never lands.
