Set to tell whole new stories far removed from the Skywalker saga, it's exactly the kind of branching out Star Wars is in need of. The Last Jedi may have been divisive, which will mean there are a fair few already set against this, but Johnson is a supremely gifted filmmaker, and now he has a completely blank canvas to work with the possibilities are endless.
