Fifty Shades Of Grey: 10 Much Better Choices Than Charlie Hunnam

By Simon Gallagher /

5. Stephen Amell

TV star Amell, who has made his name recently as the star of Arrow , announced on Facebook some time ago that he had had a meeting about the role, and set fans tongues wagging about his potential casting. Ultimately, he wasn't cast, but the star posted the following to get fans excited:
"I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it. Long way off. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn't call it long, but I wouldn't call it close."
Amell's greatest appeal would be his suitability to the darker side of Grey: he is physically imposing thanks to the workout required in keeping in shape for Arrow, and there is something utterly disarming about his dark hair and piercing blue eyes that would have suited the character nicely. Like Hunnam, Amell starred in Queer As Folk, and clearly showed his willingness to deal with raunchier material.
