20. The Killer Reveal - Scream 7

Scream 7 may have suffered through some serious developmental issues - namely the firing of Melissa Barrera and subsequent departure of Jenna Ortega - but at least there was hope it'd serve up another compelling murder-mystery.

Yet this sequel rocks the most resoundingly lame killer reveal and motive in the entire franchise to date.

We eventually learn that the lead Ghostface is Sidney's (Neve Campbell) neighbour Jessica Bowden (Anna Camp) - a Sidney fangirl who was inspired by Sid's autobiography to murder her abusive husband.

An obsessed Jessica was then disappointed that Sidney was absent from the events of Scream VI - get it? - and so conspired to kill Sid in front of her daughter Tatum (Isabel May), in turn making Tatum "the new Sidney."

Jessica's co-conspirator is Marco (Ethan Embry), an orderly at the local mental institution who used his computer knowledge to taunt Sid with AI deepfakes of former friends and foes such as Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard).

It's all incredibly groan-worthy and convoluted, and exactly what's to be expected when a sequel is rushed out the front door during a chaotic development process.
