18. Ellie's Cameo - Evil Dead Burn

Evil Dead Burn is the weakest entry into the franchise to date, and the feeling of disappointment was compounded by a dreadful post-credits scene which suggested the last thing many fans want to see from the series.

The post-credits scene takes place in a crematorium where the unclaimed ashes of Ellie Bixler (Alyssa Sutherland) - who was the main Deadite in the previous film, Evil Dead Rise - are housed.

Soon enough, Ellie is inexplicably resurrected, at which point she kills the young daughter of the crematorium's manager by snapping her neck and tearing her throat out.

Even with the Evil Dead lore being sensibly vague, many fans were left scratching their heads at how Ellie - who, remember, was put through an industrial wood chipper - could possibly be back.

It doesn't help that her closing quip - "Mommy's back" - is horribly corny, nor that the accompanying child murder simply feels edgy for edgy's sake. 

None of this lands with any impact whatsoever, and ultimately leaves fans questioning whether Sam Raimi and co. want to move away from the current anthology approach towards an interconnected universe of Evil Dead movies. No thanks.
