20 Horror Franchises That NEED To Come Back

10. Species

The Species franchise certainly isn't high art, but there's absolutely a place for highly-sexed horror flicks such as this, the original film propelling Natasha Henstridge to overnight fame in her lead role as a beautiful alien-human hybrid seeking out a male mate on Earth.

The original film was a sizable box office hit, though none of the three sequels replicated its zeitgeist-capturing levels of success, and 2007's fourth film, Species - The Awakening, didn't even feature Henstridge at all.

As such, we've gone almost an entire 20 years without anything new from Species, and while some might opine that it had a good run, it does feel like a Species reboot could satisfy an unfilled cinematic niche.

After all, studies suggest that Hollywood has become decidedly more sex-averse in recent times, and yet, there's surely still an audience out there for horror films that unashamedly fill the screen with as much nudity as gore.

For instance, the Scarlett Johansson-starring film Under the Skin basically felt like an arthouse take on Species, and frankly, that's not a bad route to go for a less-sleazy, A24-coded take on the franchise.
