20 Horror Franchises That NEED To Come Back

3. The ABCs of Death

And now for a serious deep cut, we have the anthology series The ABCs of Death, which quite ingeniously featured 26 short horror-comedy films, with one short representing each letter of the alphabet.

Though the quality among the shorts varied wildly as expected, it was nevertheless an intriguing and fun experiment which allowed name genre filmmakers like Nacho Vigalondo, Adam Wingard, Ben Wheatley, Ti West, and many more to play around in the short-form realm.

The first film was successful enough for a sequel to be released just two years later in 2014, and in 2016 producers released a spin-off, ABC's of Death 2½, comprised of shorts which were initially submitted for the second film.

Though a threequel, ABCs of Death 3: Teach Harder, was initially announced, it was ultimately shelved due to how extensively ABCs of Death 2 was pirated online.

That is to say, the financials just didn't make sense for another go-around, yet considering how indie horror has grown over the past decade with filmmaking tech becoming more affordable than ever before, it feels like the time is right for the series to return.
