20 Horror Franchises That NEED To Come Back
17. Tremors
It's fair to say that Tremors has had far greater longevity than just about anyone expected, because while neither stars Kevin Bacon nor Fred Ward returned beyond the first two films, supporting actor Michael Gross gleefully took up the mantle and basically made the series his own.
Gross' performance as eccentric survivalist Burt Gummer is what kept Tremors going through even its lesser installments, though with Gummer finally appearing to die in 2020's seventh film Tremors: Shrieker Island, it appeared that the franchise was finally put out to pasture.
Gross suggested that an eight film could happen, though also implied that Universal may have had enough of Tremors after seven films.
Elsewhere there were reports last year that the rights-holders were trying to get Bacon back for a legacy sequel, but that sure seems like a long shot.
Yet Tremors carries a surprising amount of genre cachet, and it sure would be great to see the Graboids given a decent budget once again.
