20 Horror Franchises That NEED To Come Back

16. Sinister

Scott Derrickson's Sinister truly is one of the most memorable horror films of the 2010s, largely thanks to its impeccably eerie atmosphere and Derrickson's knack for unnerving visuals.

It grossed almost $90 million on a budget of just $3 million, ensuring that a franchise was born, yet Sinister 2 - which wasn't directed by Derrickson - was a critical and commercial disappointment, seemingly killing the prospective cash cow overnight.

Derrickson did, however, state back in 2023 that he was interested in returning to Sinister, and considering how iconic its antagonist Bughuul became after just a single movie, it seems absolutely absurd not to keep exploiting that.

A third Sinister, whether a reboot or direct sequel, that recaptures the oppressive atmosphere of the original could easily be a huge hit for whoever bankrolls it, especially with the original now being old enough to be nostalgic comfort food for some. Do you feel old yet?
